About Course

This is a pre-recorded, self-paced course of more than 50 tutorials and practice classes.
This course will introduce you to the full set of postures (asanas) that make up the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series as well as the method for practice.
The course follows the traditional method of teaching the asanas step-by-step, slowly building the practice. Eventually the sequence is memorised and you will be able to practice by yourself.
The course includes:
– Tutorials on each asana and how to practice it safely
– Suggestions for modifications and how to incorporate props
– Additional exercises to support the practice
– Guided classes of varying lengths you can practice along to
– Opportunity to have any questions answered directly from the teacher

The Ashtanga Yoga Primary series is known as Yoga Cikitsā which means yoga therapy. It is designed to detoxify the body and establish a baseline of good health. Through regular practice the body becomes flexible, strong and stamina is increased. Slow, controlled breathing and deep concentration creates focus and a strong quiet mind, resulting in a feeling of calmness and peace. Regular practitioners also experience increased clarity, vitality and an overall sense of well-being.
About the teacher Nea Ferrier
Nea has been practising Ashtanga yoga for 20 years and teaching internationally for 15 years. She was authorised level 2 by Paramaguru Sharath Jois in 2010 and was the first authorised Ashtanga teacher to teach Ashtanga yoga in the Gulf Region, where she established Ashtanga Yoga Dubai in 2014.
Nea’s teaching style is gentle, compassionate and intuitive, drawing on many years of daily teaching and her studies in Ayurveda, Tantra, Menstruality and Vedanta.  She is focused on guiding students to find their own balance between effort and letting go, and to practice in a way that is sustainable and supportive for various life stages.

Nea’s online Ashtanga yoga course has been an incredible resource for someone like me, who doesn’t have access to a traditional shala. Practicing alone, I’ve faced multiple injuries due to a lack of guidance, but this course has completely transformed my approach. Each asana is explained in great detail, with modifications that make the practice more accessible and safe. I love how I can go back and rewatch lessons whenever needed.

Before joining the course, I often skipped asanas and never truly completed my practice. Now, with the option to follow either a half-primary or full-primary sequence with clear, structured instructions, I feel more confident and committed. My practice has become more consistent, and I genuinely enjoy it. Nea’s teaching style is thorough and encouraging, making this course perfect for self-practitioners. Joining this online Ashtanga yoga course has been so worth it. For someone that finds it challenging to travel to the Shala for practice, this course is an excellent way for me to squeeze the practice into my daily routine. Modifications for the asanas (postures) is also demonstrated and this really helps as I am restricted in my mobility. It really feels as though Nea (the teacher) is in the room with me!

I recently completed the Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga Course, and I must say, it was an incredibly enriching experience. As someone who was new to Ashtanga Yoga, this course provided a perfect balance of foundational knowledge and practical application.

The instructor was highly knowledgeable and explained each concept with clarity, making it easy for beginners to grasp. The pacing was just right, allowing enough time to absorb the information without feeling overwhelmed.
